Question rickLS1: When you say you removed the "covers" - do mean you removed the little clear plastic covers just above the license plate? If so I tried to pry each one open carefully with a screwdriver. They didn't seem to want to come off and I didn't want to crack them. Perhaps they have internal clips. Do you think it would be safe to pop them off with a screwdriver? I would rather by the part and do it myself. Thanks for the comments. If the light wasn't needed for state inspection approval I wouldn't even brother to fix it.
